A new chapter begins for the Bailliage
" Set against the elegant backdrop of the Sheraton Kampala poolside, the Induction Ceremony marked the formal installation of Kainembabazi Sabiti as Bailli Délégué "
On Saturday, May 23rd, members and guests gathered at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel for the Bailliage’s Induction Ceremony and Gala Dinner. It was an occasion that celebrated the traditions of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs whilst marking an important moment of leadership renewal and continuity within the Bailliage.
The evening was honoured by the presence of Shabnam Nayer, Bailli Délégué of Kenya and Member of the Conseil Magistral, who served as Inducting Officer and guest of honour. Joining her were Nicole Weyn, Bailli of Mombasa, together with members of the Mombasa Board, reflecting the strong bonds of friendship and fellowship that unite the East African Chaîne community.
Set against the elegant backdrop of the Sheraton Kampala poolside, the Induction Ceremony marked the formal installation of Kainembabazi Sabiti as Bailli Délégué of Uganda. Her induction ushers in a new chapter for the Bailliage. It is particularly significant as Kainembabazi becomes the first Ugandan woman to hold the office. The occasion symbolised both continuity and renewal. It reaffirms the Bailliage’s commitment to the values of gastronomy, fellowship and professional excellence that define the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.
A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Silver Commandeur distinction to Bailli Délégué Kainembabazi Sabiti, Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia and Marinka Sanc George in recognition of 17 years of dedicated service as founder members of the Bailliage of Uganda. This distinguished honour pays tribute to members whose commitment and stewardship have played a vital role in establishing and strengthening the Bailliage since its inception.
The Bailliage also welcomed five new members into the Chaîne family, including three Professional members whose expertise further enriches our Bailliage. In addition, Dr. Benon Kigozi was formally appointed to the National Board, reflecting the continued development of leadership within the Bailliage and ensuring the succession of future generations of Chaîne members.
In her remarks following the induction, Ms Sabiti reflected on the significance of the occasion: “It is both a privilege and a responsibility to serve as Bailli Délégué of Uganda. As the first Ugandan woman to hold this office, I am deeply honoured to build upon the strong foundation laid by our founders and past leaders, whilst fostering continued growth, fellowship and excellence within our Bailliage.”
