A third generation hotelier and trained chef
Conseiller Culinaire Tarje Hellebust is General Manager of the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in Oslo and District Director, Carlson Rezidor.
A third generation hotelier and trained chef, Tarje completed an apprenticeship at the Hotel Continental in Oslo before working his way around the world as Wine Steward on board the Royal Viking Star.
Other managerial positions include General Manager of the Hesperia Hotel in Helsinki, the Radisson Blu Royal Viking Hotel in Stockholm, the Radisson Blu Portman Hotel in London and the award-winning Radisson Blu at Manchester Airport in the UK.
But it was returning to his home town of Oslo as General Manager of the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in 2002, after a 17-year stint abroad that Tarje describes as an “all-time high” for him and his family.
Commenting on his membership of the Chaîne, Tarje said, “Being able to meet new and old friends and colleagues through the Chaîne is a great pleasure as one basically meets people with the same interest as oneself: the essence of hospitality, excellent food with respect for the ingredients and the preparation, happy people and fine wines. That’s quite a combination!”
