Malaysia Brunch

Bailliage of Sabah, Malaysia
Kota Kinabalu, January 12, 2020

Sparkling event at Le Meridien

Filling the air of the hotel’s foyer with bright red lanterns and cherry blossom the perfect Chinese New Year mood was created.

Entering 2020 with sparkles, it was most befitting to extend our “season to be jolly” with a Sparkling Brunch at Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu.

Free-flowing Banfi Tener Brut Prosecco was served throughout with canapes of Oscietre caviar on mini pancakes as well as watermelon spheres with Sangria dressing.

Once seated, there was an array of appetizers:
- Russian salad
- Chicken roulade
- Home-cured smoked duck on brioche
- Vitello tonnato in mini cornets

Still keeping the bubbles chilled, gazpacho was served. Warming up to brunch, the tempting aroma of truffle-perfumed, foamy forest mushroom with caramelised onions filled the room.

To make our afternoon a little more eye-catching colourful pasta, lobster bisque with citrus poached crayfish and local farmed prawns followed.

For our meaty hero, tender and succulent sous-vide Wagyu beef rib eye and New Zealand lamb loin was served with an Italian classic, Castello di Gabbiano Cavaliere d’Oro Chianti Riserva.

We then moved to an adjacent room where a dessert explosion was served!

Appreciation and congratulations all round went to French-trained Chef Gary Gory Ekar and his kitchen brigade, as well as to Mohd Fadzil Mustapha and his service team for a job very well done.

It was another successful event with great camaraderie.
