'Pearls and Women'
" a special celebration of International Women's Day "
In March we definitely feel it’s good to be a woman. It is a tradition that our Bailliage makes a special celebration of International Women’s Day by inviting female members for a ladies’ lunch.
Ladies felt very pampered again being hosted in the private room of the Vadrózsa (Wild Rose) Restaurant. We had a thoughtful idea to have a very feminine theme: Pearls and Women which made the event even more attractive.
Needless to say, everyone wore pearls in the most different ways - necklaces, eardrops, pendants, rings, brooches for example.
On entering the restaurant the first thing we saw were the table decorations created by Dame de la Chaîne Judit Merkler-Szántó. Candle holders, candles in different shapes and sizes, flowers, pearls individually and ropes, an evening bag woven from pearls, pearls on glass stands with bells. Its beauty enchanted us. Her fantasy did not stop there!
There was a projector in the room showing photos of international stars wearing gorgeous (sometimes heavy, sometimes chunky) pearl jewellery. Judit had also brought prints of the photos.
Dame de la Chaîne Éva Földvári displayed a large collection of pearls. We could not resist touching, holding the ropes of pearls in beautiful colours and shades. In addition, Eva revealed interesting, exciting details about the world of pearls.
Officier Ildikó Lovas, whilst diving into literature, found the perfect choice to read from: String of Beads by Somerset Maugham. (The title accidently rhymed with the theme of the day.)
Maître Rôtisseur Ráchel Raj generously surprised us with a tiny pearl on a seashell manufactured from marzipan.
During the reception we ate with our eyes! Then a very, very delicious lunch was served which was the crowning glory of the whole event.
We were more than thankful to Vadrózsa’s owner Maître Restaurateur Gábor Földvári and to Chef Alexandra Pereszlényi who is a Rôtisseur member.
We are eagerly anticipating enjoying Women’s Day in 2021.
