Sampling Turkey's popular drink
Raki is one of the most popular alcoholic drinks in Turkey, made from raisins or grapes, in combination with anise.
It is the traditional companion for the various mezzes - cold or warm small appetizer dishes.
Therefore, the third national on-line event of the Bailliage proved a very popular, successful event as it was an on-line Zoom Raki tasting.
From all over the country 75 participants received a tasting kit. It contained a small bag of aniseed, a certificate giving proof of their participation, as well as six small bottles of different Raki, namely:
- Tekirdağ Rakısı Altın Seri
- Yeni Rakı Âla
- Yeni Rakı 1937
- Yeni Rakı Uzun Demleme
- Yeni Rakı Ustaların Karışımı
Everybody had prepared their mezzes at home to eat while tasting the different Raki varieties.
The meeting was opened by Bailli Délégué Yves Léon welcoming everyone. Échanson Niso Adato then introduced Mehmet Başkaya and Zafer Oylan who gave a very entertaining, informative presentation regarding the production and the tasting of Raki.
The participants could ask questions whenever they wanted, so a lively exchange of questions and answers followed.
Two hours later all the Raki were tasted. All the questions were answered. Everyone had had their fill and could look back on a very enjoyable evening.
Vive la Chaîne!
