With the holidays approaching, we thought we would try something new and offer members and friends a family brunch at the Restaurant “Le Safoutier” in the Hilton Hotel on July 11th.

This meal, coinciding with the Bailli Délégué’s birthday, was a great success.

His Excellency the Ambassador of Egypt and His Excellency the Ambassador of Belgium, as well as 40 members and guests attended the event. Before presenting the day’s menu, the Bailli Délégué, Chloé Balanos, gave the guests a brief overview of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs: an international community of members who believe in fraternity, camaraderie and a shared passion for the culinary arts.

Chef Olivier had created a wonderfully diverse buffet with an Indian and Asian Corner / European and Italian Corner / Cameroon Corner / Live Station / BBQ and Pizza / Soup, and prepared chicken shawarma especially for us, as well as a plethora of desserts of course. There was a dish to suit every palate.

The meal was paired with white wine, Monbazillac Château Rousseau, and red wine, ‘Le Bailli de Notre Dame’ from Château Gaillac, carefully selected just for us. Champagne followed with the arrival of the birthday cake - a magnificent affair, worthy of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.

Guests and members, delighted to attend this prestigious brunch organised by the Chaîne, were moved by the following words from the Bailli Délégué:

“Today is also a special day for me. It’s my birthday. Celebrating a birthday is about celebrating and enjoying life. But age is of no importance when a youthful heart dazzles you with light. Youth and beauty both defy time.

On birthdays we celebrate the present, and I can tell you that I have found the recipe for happiness: being surrounded by all my friends, sharing a lovely meal and a glass of fine wine, and above all, celebrating with all of you.”

The members and guests were very happy to be part of this beautiful day, and struggled to tear themselves away at the end of such a well organised meal.
