After a summer break, members of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs were delighted to meet again on September 29th at the Hilton Hotel’s restaurant, Le Pachy.

To mark the occasion, and to our great delight, the Director of the Hilton Hotel, our good friend, Julien Besançon, to whom we are incredibly grateful, had invited the chef from the Ovalie restaurant in Douala to prepare a dinner around the theme “a crossroads of flavours.”

The Ovalie Restaurant draws inspiration from its surroundings. Chef Jérôme picks out the best ingredients from local producers for fresh deliveries every day.

Without having to travel, we were thus able to enjoy the fare of this restaurant, which is renowned for the sophistication and presentation of its dishes.

WINES

Riesling ‘Pfaff’ 2018 - Alsace
We love this smooth white wine
with its hints of melon, sugar, barley and blossom.
This particular vintage is a cut above
the rest for this wine.

Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2016 ‘Médaille d’Or’
Cherry colour. On the nose, raspberry notes and a pleasantly
full-bodied aroma. On the palate, fruity with a smooth,
rich flavour and a supple tannin presence.
Well-balanced, lively, harmonious.
Very nearly truly extraordinary.

His Excellency the Ambassador of Egypt to Cameroon and his wife were in attendance, together with two delightfully elegant Dames de la Chaîne from the Bailliage of Douala, as well as a number of members and guests who share the same gastronomic values and a passion for promoting culinary arts and fine dining.

There was a celebratory atmosphere, and a musical trio, arranged for us for the evening by the Hilton Hotel, created a wonderful ambiance.
