The much-awaited first Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill outside of the United Kingdom finally opened its doors at Malaysia’s newly renovated Sunway Resort Hotel on June 18th.
Chef Ramsay’s most desirable dishes, such as his “Classic Beef Wellington”, “Spiced Beef Tartare with Egg Yolk Confit” and “Arnold Bennett Twice-baked Cheese Soufflé with Mornay Sauce”, are served in a stylish dining room of robust furnishings with portraits of British celebrities by Terry O’Neill and Arthur Steel.
Our Bailliage was fortunate to get a booking for 22 people ten days after the restaurant opened despite the full-house bookings most evenings.
On arrival members and guests enjoyed a cosy pre-dinner treat of Gallagher oysters and champagne in the bar area, as the sun set over the Sunway Lagoon.
Our dining tables were in the quieter, spacious area adjacent to the lounge, ‘watched’ over by Chef Ramsay from his portrait. Seated in groups of four and a larger table of six, gave a feel of comfortable distancing yet permitting much conversation and camaraderie.
