" Winning is not something you do just like that, of course; tests are tough, the jury is strict "

The winners of the Bailliage’s National Finals of the Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs and Jeunes Sommeliers Competition 2023 can now be revealed.

After an exciting contest, young Chef Britt Van de Walle, who studies at Culinary Arts, managed to take the Best Young Chef title. Jeno Del Turco, who is Sommelier at the Michelin 2-star le Chalet de La Fôret in Uccle, was voted the Bailliage’s Best Young Sommelier for 2023.

Thus, two more promising culinary talents went on to win the leading awards presented annually by the Chaîne in Belgium.

“Winning is not something you do just like that, of course; tests are tough, the jury is strict. Every year we are fortunate in getting leading names on our juries. Conseiller Culinaire Jean-Baptiste Thomaes, Michelin 2-star chef of Château du Mylord is traditionally the organiser of the National Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition. Renowned wine connoisseur and Échanson, Dominique Crombé was in charge of the Jeunes Sommeliers Competition. These are names that guarantee quality. We are therefore convinced that our winners will also stand their ground internationally. Moreover, we continue to prepare them for the ultimate competition and guide them carefully,” concluded Bailli Délégué Ilse Duponcheel.

The competitions were supported by our partners: Vives, Sligro - Ispc, Spadel - Bru, Verstegen, Rational, D-Wincoach, Dolce World, Château du Mylord, Sense for Taste, Biga Wines.
