It was with great pleasure that members and friends of the Bailliage of Yaoundé met on March 29th at the “Chez Kalli” restaurant for this dinner.

After “A taste of Tunisia” in January, it was the restaurant run by the Conseiller Culinaire Kalli Kritikos that was chosen to provide the backdrop for this international experience.

For the occasion, new friends, including many Chefs from the Cameroon’s diplomatic community, gathered to celebrate gastronomy with great food and fine wines and to uphold the values of excellence and fraternity that unite them and spur them on to guarantee the future of great culinary traditions.

In her welcome address, Bailli Délégué Chloé Balanos reminded those present of the words of Brillat-Savarin, who once said that a love of good food is one of the main bonds of society, fostering an everyday spirit of conviviality and inspiring conversation.

Brillat-Savarin defined conviviality as the pleasure of spending time with each other, finding the right balance for effective communication and the sharing of ideas in genuine friendship around the table.

The spirit of conviviality is about promoting tolerance and facilitating the exchange of ideas between individuals or groups of individuals. In the Chaîne, we share this interest and this common passion for gastronomy.
