Successful new format celebrates and honours

Switzerland’s National Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs (JCR) competition and presentation of the winners was held together with a Chapitre at the Grand Hotel Viktoria Jungfrau in Interlaken.
After three years delay the JCR competition was held again in the Bildungszentrum Interlaken (BZI) with five young competitors. The organizing committee under the leadership of Conseil Culinaire Franz Faeh and Chargé de Missions Hans-Peter Bütschi, both new in their role, prepared and facilitated the competition excellently.
The jury was composed of experienced Maîtres Rôtisseurs and amateur gourmets with extensive knowledge and experience. The winner was selected after their preparation in the kitchen was observed and each competitor’s three-course menu was tasted. A real pleasure to see five young professionals performing and supporting each other during the competition!
An audience of almost 50 Bailliage members and guests witnessed the breath-taking presentation of the results by Franz Faeh, accompanied by a picture slide show from the competition.
The five competitors were ceremonially inducted into the Chaîne as Rôtisseurs by Bailli Délégué Dr Thomas Kuhn, who is a Member of the Conseil Magistral. Then, as young new professional members of the Chaîne, the five entered the prestigious “General Guisan” ballroom to a long-standing ovation. An excellent Gala Dinner followed.
This new format celebrating and honouring the participants with a very well-organized, prestigious event was undoubtedly a big success. The aim is to motivate more competitors and attract more members in the future.
For the first time since 2020 Switzerland will be represented again at the International Final of the JCR Competition - this year being held in Istanbul. The Bailliage is now already looking forward to March 2024 when the next National competition will take place in Interlaken.
