Each visit to Ošterija Debeluh in Brežice, where our Professional member is Master Chef Jure Tomič, has always been an exceptional culinary experience. A presentation of his rich culinary knowledge and gastronomic innovation. In my opinion, the restaurant and its offer rank among the five best dining opportunities in Slovenia.

The Bailliage’s May dinner re-confirmed this. It allowed us to look at the palette of flavours, balanced and graduated, from the kitchen’s greeting all the way to dessert. Jure Tomič committed himself to modern dishes based on the knowledge and creativity of his restaurant.

This applies not only to the range of foods with which he prepares individual dishes. It also applies to the wines selected to go with them with an emphasis on the wine-growing region of Posavje. The restaurant boasts an extensive wine list of local, Slovenian and foreign wines.

Everything takes place and develops without empty words and media-supported “attractions”. It develops with a string of exceptional flavours and textures taking into account the seasons.

After finishing dinner, I had the impression that no one was in a hurry to leave despite the relatively late hour and miles to our homes. Incontrovertible proof of what the dishes and drinks of a dinner based on superior knowledge, innovation in service, fusion of flavours and respect for the possibilities offered by local and regional foods can produce.
