Hopmann’s Olive, the gourmet restaurant in Erkrath-Hochdahl (between Wuppertal and Düsseldorf) is owned by Petra and Ingo Hopmann. He is in the kitchen; she oversees the service. Ingo joined the Chaîne in 2007 as a Maître Rôtisseur in the Bailliage of Nordrhein and was promoted to Officier Maître Rôtisseur in 2017.

For over 25 years, the restaurant has been characterized by the successful combination of light Mediterranean and regionally accentuated cuisine. “Enjoyment among friends” is an aspiration readily achieved by the style of cuisine supported by the unique ambience with a summer garden and historic engine shed.

Petra and Ingo enthused, “For our guests, a visit is a very special experience thanks to the unique, historic engine shed next door and - on the nice and warm days of the year - the green summer garden.”

Here in the cultural and tourist region of Neanderland, in the area between Düsseldorf on the Rhine and the Bergisches Land, it is a matter close to Petra and Ingo’s heart that their guests feel comfortable and become friends of the house.

As was the case at the beginning of June when the Bailliage of Nordrhein held a dinner at the restaurant with the theme “my spring kitchen”. Vice-Chargée de Presse Uschi Biskamp reported that “After a warm greeting with champagne and delicious finger food we enjoyed excellent dishes. Every single course of the menu was worth attending the event. Mildly pickled Ikarimi salmon and the rascasse fillet fried on the skin deserve special mention. The Hopmanns and their staff looked after us with a lot of personal commitment. People always like to come to the restaurant, not least because of the personal atmosphere.”

As well as for their guests in the restaurant, Hopmann’s Catering provides a banqueting service for weddings, private parties or business events. The attentive service team from Hopmann’s ensures a physical well-being from the arrival of the first guests to the farewell. On offer for event organisers are an imaginative range of menus, vegetarian/vegan dishes, with wines and non-alcoholic drinks. There are practically no limits to the ideas for an event.
