Celebrating Miami-style!
The Bailliage celebrated World Chaîne Day 2016 with a “Hats Off to the Miami Chaîne” luncheon.
To acknowledge our association’s French roots members gathered at Coté Gourmet, a charming French bistro in the heart of Miami Shores. The setting was ideal with its cosy atmosphere, small tables adorned with fresh roses, napkins wrapped with satin bows and its wonderful collection of timeless photographs decorating the walls.
Proprietors Yvan and Evelyn Poussardin have become a formidable team: Yvan manages the front of the house while Evelyn works her magic in the kitchen to create classic cuisine with a modern flair.
Bailli Nancy Radlauer invited attendees to wear their most outrageous hats with a promise that the most flamboyant would win a prize. The simple to custom-designed toppers proved as varied as the personalities of the individuals wearing them.
Executive Chef Evelyn judged the competition and declared Dame de la Chaîne Carene Raldiris the winner for her originality: her hat was adorned with cutlery, florals, and ribbons. Bailli Radlauer awarded Carene a bottle of wine and a Chaîne hat.
Our celebratory luncheon comprised:
- Amuse bouche
- Brie and leek quiche with house salad
- Salmon with baby vegetables, lemon sauce, baby squash, jasmine rice
- Lamb stew, baby vegetables, gratin potatoes
- Chocolate gateau with mixed berry coulis
- Coffee
As our delightful luncheon came to a close, everyone raised their champagne glasses and exclaimed, “Vive la Chaîne”. World Chaîne Day embodies our shared passion for the culinary arts and camaraderie at the table on a global level. Thank you Finland for the original thought!
Bailli Radlauer presented Evelyne Poussarin with a certificate of appreciation. Everyone who attended received a commemorative of a porcelain bon-bon dish bearing the Chaîne logo.
