The Bailliage of Mauritius is delighted to announce the appointment of Gerhard Hecker as its new Bailli Délégué. A longstanding member of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs and a highly respected hotelier, Gerhard brings decades of global hospitality leadership and a deep passion for the culinary arts to this prestigious role.

Background
Born in Germany, Gerhard Hecker began his hospitality career in 1976 as an apprentice at an historic family-run Alpine resort. Gerhard’s career soon took him across Asia with senior roles in the Holiday Inn group, including assignments in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Bangkok. Later as General Manager of the newly rebranded InterContinental Grand Stanford in Hong Kong for 15 years.

Gerhard went on to manage flagship properties in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Jakarta, and Dubai, most notably with the Shangri-La group. In Mauritius, Gerhard led the Shangri-La Touessrok followed by LUX* Belle Mare. Gerhard currently serves as General Manager at Le Jadis by Banyan Tree.

Previous Roles in the Chaîne
After relocating to Mauritius, Gerhard transferred his Chaîne membership to our Bailliage and quickly became an integral part of the National Council serving with distinction.

During his tenure at LUX* Belle Mare, he graciously hosted the Chaîne on three memorable occasions. 2022, 2023, and 2024 with the 2023 Chapitre standing out as an exceptional showcase of culinary excellence and Chaîne tradition.

Vision as Bailli Délégué
As Bailli Délégué, Gerhard aims to strengthen the Bailliage’s position as a beacon of gastronomic excellence in Mauritius. His vision includes creating unforgettable dining experiences, increasing member engagement, and mentoring the next generation of culinary talent.

Gerhard enthusiastically commented, “I am delighted and honoured to have this prestigious title bestowed on me and I do endeavour, together with our committee members, to elevate our Bailliage to new heights, celebrating friendship, fine dining and the spirit of the Chaîne.”
