Lunchtime event at the Muthaiga Country Club
" Each course was expertly prepared and presented, showcasing both creativity and precision in the kitchen "
The Bailliage of Nairobi gathered for a memorable Induction Ceremony and luncheon at the upgraded ballroom of the Muthaiga Country Club on Saturday, March 7th. The Induction Ceremony was presided over by Shabnam Nayer, Bailli Délégué of Kenya and a Member of the Conseil Magistral.
Shabnam led a distinguished induction of new members into both the Chaîne and the OMGD (Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs). In total, 20 new members were inducted into the Chaîne and 15 into the OMGD, marking an important moment of growth for the Bailliage of Nairobi. Congratulations were also extended to Ashe Ahluwalia, who was awarded the Chaîne’s Bronze Award in recognition of his dedication and contribution to the Confrérie.
The afternoon began with a lively welcome reception where members and guests gathered to celebrate our inductees with glasses of Silverthorn ‘The River Dragon’ NV - a Method Cap Classique premium sparkling wine from South Africa - creating a vibrant and convivial atmosphere that set the tone for the occasion.
Guests were treated to an exceptional menu prepared by Chef Macharia and his talented culinary team. The lunch opened with Limuru tea crusted tuna served with mango and coconut salad, cucumber and lime gel, paired with Radford Dale Vinum Chenin Blanc from Stellenbosch, South Africa.
The main course featured roasted duck breast with a honey and spice glaze, accompanied by fondant potatoes, filo wrapped Brie, confit duck legs and charred celeriac with cauliflower purée and orange and ginger jus. This beautifully balanced dish was paired with David & Nadia Grenache Noir from Swartland, South Africa.
Dessert was a decadent Valrhona chocolate crémeux with mint and olive oil sponge, almond tuile and blood orange sorbet, complemented by the fragrant Zevenwacht Bouquet Blanc, also from South Africa.
Each course was expertly prepared and presented, showcasing both creativity and precision in the kitchen. A huge thank you and congratulations go to Chef Macharia and his entire kitchen brigade for delivering such an outstanding culinary experience. As well as to Lawrence Kioko and his service team for their impeccable hospitality and professionalism throughout the afternoon.
The Bailliage of Nairobi would also like to extend sincere thanks to our generous wine sponsors, Under the Influence and KySa Wines, whose support and carefully selected wines raised significantly the dining experience which added greatly to the success of the event.
With exceptional cuisine, impeccable service and the joyful celebration of new members, the luncheon was a fitting tribute to the traditions, fellowship and gastronomic excellence that the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs continues to champion.
Vive la Chaîne!
