Bailliage of Myanmar
Yangon, May 12, 2017

Historic night in Yangon!

The first dinner of the Chaîne in Myanmar was held at the Melia Hotel’s brand new restaurant “Olea”. Executive Chef Paul Wieser and his team created a six-course menu with champagne and other great wines from around the world making it an unforgettable evening.

Notable guests of honour were: Christian Ludwig Weber-Lortsch, His Excellency the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, and his wife; Alessandro Haab, Bailli Provincial Honoraire of Eastern Seaboard, from Thailand; Captain Jerzy Wilk, Bailli Délégué elect of Myanmar.

Myanmar Vineyard Beerenauslese

Of special note for the menu was the “heaven on earth” 22 carat gold chocolate sphere created by the chefs. The bar was raised with each course and we thought it was not possible to go to an even higher level but they did it with the dessert!

Chargé de Missions Magnus Scherr and Bailli Provincial Honoraire Alessandro Haab, himself a well-reputed chef, highlighted the exceptional service and outstanding execution by front-of-house staff as well as the hard-working professionals in the kitchen. Chef Paul Wieser and the Restaurant Olea were awarded a Gold Encrusted Plate and certificates.

The evening continued in Yangon’s famous Atlas Rooftop Bar and Lounge where everyone enjoyed cigars and cognac.

With 50 people attending and 20 on the waiting list one can readily conclude that the evening was a true success. This inaugural event surpassed all expectations and has certainly set the standard for the future.

Sincere thanks are due to the hard work of the members and the continuous support of individuals that made the launch of the Chaîne in Myanmar happen in such a wonderful manner!
