Cook Islands Grand Chapitre

Bailliage of Cook Islands
Rarotonga, April 9-12, 2017

Showcasing Islands-style gastronomy and camaraderie

In the finest traditions of the Chaîne, the Bailliage held its second Grand Chapitre on the country’s main island and gateway, Rarotonga.

International and local members and guests enjoyed Islands-style hospitality in one of the most beautiful South Pacific settings imaginable.

Special guests included Inducting Officer Norbet Simon, Member of the Conseil Magistral from Austria. He was accompanied by his wife, Elizabeth, and their son.

An exceptional programme was arranged for the three days, which included culinary delights, cultural activities and convivial company.

The focus of this year’s Grand Chapitre was to “honour the new generation”. Accordingly the programme of events included the Bailliage’s very first Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition National Final (Ed. See separate article), as well as a Salon Culinaire organised by the Cook Islands Chefs Association, in conjunction with the Bailliage and the Cook Islands Tertiary Training Institute where the competition was held.

To conclude the eventful few days, overseas guest chefs Marc Soper, MacLean Fraser, and Jacqui Brown, created an outstanding evening for our ‘Famous Chefs Gala Dinner’, which was held at The Islander Hotel.

The Bailliage wishes to thank all those who attended our second Grand Chapitre and also those who organised the proceedings. We enjoyed showcasing the Cook Islands and sharing three days of gastronomy and camaraderie.
