Celebrating Scandinavian Week at the Royal Danish Residence

During “Scandinavian Week” held at the Ankara Hilton Hotel in cooperation with the embassies of Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, the Bailliage was honoured with an invitation to dinner by His Excellency Svend Olling, the Ambassador of Denmark to Turkey.

Ambassador Olling and his wife, Ann, hosted the complimentary dinner at the Royal Danish Residence. The Swedish Ambassador, the Norwegian Chargé d’Affaires as well as Turkey’s Bailli Délégué Mohamed Hammam and Chargé de Presse Yves Léon with their spouses also attended.

Ambassador Olling revealed his passion for good food and quality wine, especially the latter for which he is an acknowledged connoisseur. Naturally he has been avidly exploring the Turkish wine route since his arrival in August 2016. Because of his great interest in food and wine, the Ambassador was keen to become a Chaîne member. He will be formally inducted at the Chapitre in Istanbul in September.

At the reception hot and cold canapés were served with a selection of wines. The six courses on the menu were paired with Danish and international wines. Resident Executive Chef Erika Torres introduced each course with the paired wine passionately presented by Ambassador Olling.

Bailli Délégué Mohamed Hammam thanked Ambassador Olling and his wife for their warm welcome and excellent hospitality. He thanked the kitchen and service brigades for their extraordinary efforts which made the event so memorable. Vice-Chancelier/Argentier Ethem Atinç presented three bottles of exclusive French wines from his personal wine collection to Ambassador Olling.

Next day, Mohamed Hammam and Yves Léon visited the Danish Embassy where Ambassador Olling was presented with a Bailliage of Turkey commemorative plaque in recognition and appreciation for his generosity in hosting such a great evening.
