OMGD Korea Dinner

Bailliage of Korea
Seoul, May 26, 2021

Gia mas!” (Cheers!)
" Greek Night at MishMash "

Most Koreans are familiar with Greek mythology and ancient Greek wine jars, but we know little about Greek wines and gastronomy.

To the delight of fellow members, two of our youngest members, Sommelier Nathan Kim and Chef Minzi Kim Wind, decided to break away from the familiar. They organized an Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs (OMGD) Greek Night at MishMash in the heart of Seoul.

What are they both known for? Nathan represented Korea in the 2016 International Final of the Jeunes Sommeliers Competition. Minzi for her modern, Western-inspired Korean cuisine recognized by the Michelin Guide.

Nathan presented a wide range of Greek wines, starting with a fresh sparkling wine and progressing through whites and reds. To satisfy everyone’s curiosity, he included a tasting of potent yet fragrant ouzo. Minzi impressed all guests by preparing authentic Greek food to perfectly pair with the wines.

It was a very special experience 8,500 km away from Greece which started with perfectly chilled glasses of Kir Yianni’s 2018 Paranga Sparkling Wine (made from Ximomavro, Roditis and Chardonnay grown around the town of Amyndeon in Macedonia) accompanied by spanakopita (spinach pie amuse bouche).
