Haute cuisine in both senses of the words
" members and their guests were regaled with the usual precise and innovative culinary art of Denny Mette, their Confrère Maître Rôtisseur, and his team "

High Kitchen has a unique location high above the rooftops of Magdeburg, the state capital of Saxony-Anhalt. With a view of the 500+ year-old Gothic cathedral, the principal landmark of Magdeburg, and other iconic buildings, clients can enjoy creative and classical culinary craftsmanship served in a unique ambience.

Owner Denny Mette joined the Bailliage of Sachsen-Anhalt in 2019 as a Maître Rôtisseur. High Kitchen truly represents “haute cuisine” in both senses of the words. Every two to three months, Denny, who is naturally at the stove himself, presents a new multi-course menu.

Denny says he loves his job because he gets to express his creativity every day especially through his craft. There was no doubt when he decided to pursue a culinary apprenticeship as a teenager. It was practically ingrained in him, as his parents were also restaurateurs. In 2003, he became self-employed as a freelance chef, worked as a caterer at Sichtbar and a few years later transformed it into the High Kitchen restaurant.

It was the right decision, he says. Located on the eighth floor of an office building in the heart of Magdeburg, this culinary hotspot offers an all-around view from the terrace over the city, including the Cathedral, the Hundertwasser House, the Monastery of Our Lady, and St. Sebastian's Church. In short: a place with sophisticated dishes, a special view, and a unique atmosphere.

In May, the Bailliage of Sachsen-Anhalt, led by Bailli Claas Plesch, dined at High Kitchen. Vice-Chargée de Presse Honoraire Antje Plesch wrote that the members and their guests were regaled with the usual precise and innovative culinary art of Denny Mette, their Confrère Maître Rôtisseur, and his team.

Antje continued: “Every single course was so wonderfully presented that you didn’t actually want to eat it, but that would have turned out to be a big mistake considering the equally outstanding taste. So, the sight only remained in people's minds and on numerous cell phones as photos, while the taste lingered for a long time.”

It turned out to be an extremely sociable evening. The extremely caring and always present but never intrusive service brigade made a significant contribution to the success of the evening. They took the members and their guests on a culinary journey with in-depth and interesting explanations of the individual courses and the drinks served.
