" a synopsis of events all around the country based on selected postings made to the World Chaîne Day Social Media Wall "
As is their custom, Chaîne members all over Finland - the acknowledged “mother country” of World Chaîne Day - enthusiastically celebrated the special occasion, especially given that it was the 10th anniversary of the international event.
A separate article has been published to report on the double celebration in the Bailliage of Lahti. Below is a synopsis of events all around the country based on selected postings made to the World Chaîne Day Social Media Wall.
Helsinki
The Bailliage of Helsinki held a Chapitre at the Scandic Grand Central to honour the day. A unique hotel in the best location in the centre of Helsinki. The décor is of timeless elegance; the building is in the classic, beautiful Art Nouveau style.
Karelia
Bailliage members and their guests took the opportunity to support their Chaîne member restaurants for a day celebrating good food, community and gastronomy.
Oulu
Maître Rôtisseur Jarmo Pitkänen brought the true taste of the north to life at Studio/Restaurant Tundra - a private dining and ceramic studio in Kuusamo near the Russian border. From hand-harvested wild ingredients to handcrafted ceramics and a seasonal menu, every element reflected nature, time and artistry.
Savo
In a festive atmosphere for the 10th anniversary, Kuopio resident Ari-Pekka Parviainen, Member of the Conseil d’Administration and the Conseil Magistral who is colloquially known as the “father and mother” of World Chaîne Day, gave a discourse during the Bailliage’s dinner regarding the origins of the Chaîne’s special day together with reminiscences of memorable moments from over the years.
The evening was crowned by a “menu surprise” skilfully designed by Ravintola Urban which led us on a taste journey into the heart of Levantine cuisine - full of spices, colours and new experiences.
Tampere
According to their posting on the Social Media Wall, Restaurant Dabbal offered a three-course “menu surprise”. Another posting was by Juustosoppi, the oldest privately owned cheese shop in Tampere. And there was one from Martti Putkonen who wrote that his grilled steak dish “tasted good, even if I do say so myself”!
Turku
Prominent in the Bailliage’s celebration of World Chaîne Day was the S-Market Hansa Herkku grocery store. It proudly displays the Chaîne Professionals plaque which is a testament to the quality of produce and a high level of service. The store has a food market over 30 metres long, where you will find abundant meat, fish and cheese counters. The selection also emphasizes local products and ready-made, convenient take-away delicacies. The offering also includes sushi made on site by Itsudemo, Asian woks by Fire Wok, and tasty home-cooked meals by Kulman Keittiö.
